Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives has shown its commitment to supporting the development of the tourism industry, especially MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition) and the MSME sector in Madiun Raya. This was conveyed directly by Member of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Banyu Biru Djarot in the Socialization of Human Resource Capacity Building in the Framework of Supporting the MICE Industry, which was held at the Aston Hotel Madiun, Tuesday (4/15/2025).
When interviewed by RRI Madiun, Banyu Biru emphasized that the key to strengthening the MICE sector and the creative economy lies in superior human resources (HR).
“If our HR is strong, then strengthening the economy will have a direct impact. The key is in humans. Human capital is the foundation,” he said.
He added that Madiun has great potential to compete in the MICE sector, especially with its unique local cultural wealth such as the city of warriors and pecel culinary which is already world-famous.
“Slogans like ‘Kota Pendekar’ and ‘Kampung Pesilat Indonesia’ can be amplified as part of a cultural marketing strategy. If worked on seriously, it can be an extraordinary economic attraction for tourism,” he continued.
As a legislator from an electoral district that includes Madiun, Mojokerto, Jombang, and Nganjuk, Banyu stated that he was ready to go all out to fight for budget support and programs that could strengthen MSMEs and the creative economy.
“The new engine of growth is the creative economy. We must seriously facilitate MSME actors to move up a class,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Young Expert Policy Analyst of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, Nia Agmon, in her remarks emphasized the importance of involving local human resources in the MICE industry, both at the regional, national, and international levels.
“This activity is expected to be not only a forum for conveying information, but also a space for collaboration and discussion to strengthen the capacity of human resources in this sector,” said Nia.
The event, which was also attended by tourism activists, cultural figures, and creative economy stakeholders from Madiun and its surroundings, received high enthusiasm. RRI Madiun also took part in mentoring and documenting the activity.
Through this socialization activity, it is hoped that cross-sector synergy will be born in advancing the MICE industry and encouraging the progress of MSMEs in Madiun Raya as a new sustainable economic force.
